Space exploration (British Columbia)

Ready for launch!

Go to the Moon on Spring break. The idea seems absurd, but it could one day become a reality!  In the meantime, your astronauts will blast off with us for a rocket trip carried out in three stages: exploration of the solar system, a stop on the Moon and launching their own space shuttle! They will be the heroes of space exploration!

 On the menu:

1) Solar system (60 min)

2) Moon (60 min)

3) Mini space shuttle (60 min)

Objectives at the elementary level:

  • Explain the Big Bang theory on the origins of the universe, planets and the Moon.
  • List and describe the characteristics of the major planets, and well as the Moon (composition, size, temperature and distance).
  • Illustrate the lunar phases of the Moon.
  • Describe the rotation and revolution of certain planets and the Moon.
  • Experiment with the impact of meteorites on a celestial body
  • Understand how the conquest of space has progressed over the decades.
  • Test the chemical decomposition of water mixed with citric acid to launch a spaceship.

Our needs

  • Access to electrical outlets is required.
  • If there is little time between animation activities, it is strongly recommended to set them up in the same area for Mini-spaceship workshop.
  • 6 teams must be created before the science animator arrives. (Mini spaceship).

Additional charges

  • Travel costs (minimum $ 25) based on distance apply.
  • In 60-minute workshops, if there are more than 5 groups on schedule, the workshops will be spread over more than one day and the transportation costs will have to be adjusted accordingly.
  • Additional fees will be charged if there is a delay of more than 90 minutes between two workshops.
