Earth, the Blue Planet, is covered by seas, oceans, lakes and waterways. There seems to be no shortage of this extraordinary and unique natural resource: water. Nevertheless, we will learn about the importance of taking care of this small H2O molecule through four exciting workshops. Come drink up all this knowledge!

 On the menu:

1) Water cycle (60 min)

2) Fraser River (60 min)

3) Drinking water and wastewater (60 min)

Objectives at the elementary level:

  • Describe where Earth’s water comes from.
  • Describe the stages of the water cycle and the different types of precipitation.
  • Identify the natural freshwater sources and the natural sources of salt water.
  • Illustrate the importance of the five Great Lakes of the US and Canada.
  • Classify the different stages of a method for shoreline preservation of the Fraser River
  • Describe how water quality impacts the environment and individuals.
  • Describe the different stages of distribution of drinking water and wastewater treatment.
  • Describe how humans adapted to their environment to gain access to drinking water and treat wastewater.

Our needs

  • A sink must be available close to the classes where the animation activities will take place.
  • Access to an electrical outlet is required.
  • Access to IWB is required to view two brief videos (drinking water and wastewater).
  • If there is little time between animation activities, it is strongly recommended to set them up in the same area.
  • 5 teams must be formed before the arrival of the facilitator for the “Fraser River” workshop.
  • 6 teams must be formed before the facilitator arrives for the “Water cycle” workshop.

Additional charges

  • Travel costs (minimum $ 25) based on distance apply.
  • In 60-minute workshops, if there are more than 5 groups on schedule, the workshops will be spread over more than one day and the transportation costs will have to be adjusted accordingly.
  • Additional fees will be charged if there is a delay of more than 90 minutes between two workshops.
